Our Pastel Instructor Patricia Tribastone PSA was talked about in the October edition of the American Artist Magazine and the Sunflowers painting pictured right was shown as a fine example of her work. There will be a full page article in Janurary 2010 detailing her techniques.
The Magic of Still Life in Pastel
Capture the stunning colors of still life with your pastels! Learn about composition, light and shadow, technique, and color in this 3 day workshop. The class will focus on working from life and photos to compose a bold yet delicate rendering of your subject.

Pastel: Close up and Personal
This class will study both the still life and
portrait in pastel. The emphasis of the class will be on dramatic color,
light, and shadow. The first 2-1/2 days we’ll work on
still life, learning composition, color, capturing light and shadow, and
technique. The second
2-1/2 days we will focus on the portrait, learning how to capture a likeness,
getting skin tones, and getting a sensitive rendering and 3 dimensional
look to the portrait.

"Just the Two of us" Winner of 2 Juror's awards
Join Award Winning artist Rosa Montante for this exciting new class. Create a realistic beautiful painting. You will learn to emphasize color and depth using a "layering" of colored pencil and odorless mineral spirit washes. This method will help you produce vibrant, shimmering, glowing colors, by optimally blending color and pencil strokes to obtain, full paper coverage, a glossy, uniform and smooth finish. You will learn to understand color mixing techniques, the impact of light as it relates to color and a number of other techniques to achieve old masters quality results.
• Students are expected
to bring several good quality photographs of still lives, botanical, landscapes
or cityscapes. The photographs should include color harmony, a dramatic
impact of light/dark and interesting shadows.
• Students should take pictures of the same subject throughout the
day to disclose the most interesting changes of color and shadows.

Here is an exciting opportunity to "play with clay". Certified art teacher Kate Pilletteri will be teaching the basic hand building techniques of pinch, coil, and slab. Students will create a variety of functional and non functional projects utilizing one or more of these techniques. Finished pieces will be glazed or painted. Be prepared for a lot of messy fun!
This year the student show Opening reception will be the Thursday before Village Days in August 2010. The show will stay up in the Gallery through Saturday during Village Days 2010. It must be framed if it is a drawing or painting. You will receive 30% off in our frame shop, if it is going in the show! Plan on putting at least one piece in the show. This is the “recital” for our students. Lets show off all of our hard work!
