The Art Stop LLC is a fine art supply store with a custom frame shop, art gallery, and a studio for art lessons for adults and children. We are proud to be a locally owned, small business in Penfield, NY. Fully employed by artists, we offer art lessons and classes for a variety of different interests. We also have Stop, Paint & Sip workshops where we provide all art supplies and instruction for acrylic paintings, alcohol ink on tile or acrylic pours! Art camp, and private events, are also conducted in our studio.
10% Discount for Seniors (65 or older), Multiple Family Member & Consecutive Class Sign-ups, just ask! Discount is for weekly lessons, not on all inclusive Stop, Paint & Sip Workshops.

Course Description:
In this class we’ll explore materials, fundamentals, and best practices of oil painting, with an emphasis on direct or “alla prima” techniques. Color mixing and creating a range of colors from a limited palette will be taught. For students with previous experience in color mixing, a more complex palette will be used. Paint from your own sketches, photos, or studio still life. We’ll have demos in each class that will cover various topics such as various ways to start an oil painting, oiling out, stretching a canvas, preparing a panel, glazing, and varnishing.
- Supply List:
- If you already have oil paints, please bring them to class and we will work with your selection. If you don’t have supplies, here is the minimum to get started!

Ultramarine Blue –
Hansa Yellow Light (or equivalent)
Titanium White - Surfaces
Canvas panel or gessoed panels in a variety of sizes, preferably 11 x 14 and smaller. Since we will be working alla prima, aim for smaller sizes if possible 8x 10 is wonderful. - Brushes: a least one of each, not too small (4-6). We will discuss the individual marks that each type of brush makes, and you can add to your collection as you go.

Teen to Adult Acrylic Painting Class
Teen-Adult $165 6:30-8:30 6 weeks 1/21/26 – 3/4/26 skip 2/18
Join Artist and owner of The Art Stop, Cindy Corrigan, to explore the many possibilities at your fingertips when you paint with acrylics. Learn about the many different mediums and what they can do for you to enhance your paintings. Learn about working with color, contrast, composition and negative space, all in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Beginner to Intermediate.
Supplies: Bring something to do a tonal study (if you want to transfer your sketch onto your canvas, make your paper the same size as the canvas you wish to paint) Reference material is optional, we have many photo reference as well as still life material. Bring the acrylic supplies you have and Cindy will go through your supplies with you to see if you need anything additional after she sees your subject matter. No Liquitex Basics or paints from a Batat set.

Open Studio
$10 Thursdays 11:00-6:00
Want room to sprawl out in a spacious art studio? Or maybe you want to draw and paint with other artists in a relaxed social studio. For $10 you can spend the day up in our large studio with other artists. Bring whatever supplies you want except for solvents and use the tables and/or easels, kitchen and bathrooms.
No Open Studio during Winter and Spring Break, and Summer

Cost: $115 for 8 weeks Ages 5-8
Young artists will enjoy this lighthearted class. A huge variety of projects makes this class fun over and over again. Basic art concepts are introduced at an age-appropriate level, preparing the student for creative art class, when they are ready. A smock or apron is recommended for this class. Limit 12
Supply List:

Private lessons available starting at $40 an hour for drawing lessons & $50 an hour for painting lessons, minimum 2 hours. Home school classes also available! Please call us and ask for Cindy to set up the class.
Team Building Workshops
Build team spirit by creating something together. Relieve stress and create a sense of accomplishment. In the end your team has a painting to hang in their office or a glass painting exercise to be proud of! Contact Cindy at the Art Stop LLC for more information.
Cancellation Policy: There will be no refund if cancellation isn’t at least 5 business days prior to first class. There will be a $10 administration fee for cancellation. Medical exceptions require a doctors note stating that you are physically unable to attend.
Behavior problems deemed sufficiently disruptive will result in a child’s removal from a class, no refunds are made in these cases. For all children’s classes, kids should bring a smock/old shirt. Classes may be cancelled at the discretion of The Art Stop LLC if class minimums are not met.
