Saturday 3/7/20 3:00-6:00  $50 for 3 hour Open Enrollment Workshop-

Poppies, poppies, poppies, you have to love them! You can do this, the instructor will break it down into simple understandable steps. Start off with some food and wine, relax and have a great time. Everything is included, just bring yourself and be prepared to have some fun!

    Let Zen Nana, Certified Zentangle®  Teacher guide you in a relaxing time for the mindful creation of Zentangle®  art.  You will have the opportunity to learn three tangles in each session. 

    The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.  These patterns are called tangles.  If you can hold a pen and print your name, you can draw using this calm method.  Even if you think "I have no artistic talent", you do - you can tangle!  Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas created this method, and Zentangle is a registered trademark of Zentangle Inc.  Learn more at  www.zentangle.com   

     

    You will build on the initial Introduction class and leave with opportunity to draw an art piece (3.5 in square). The art piece will differ from image shown.

    Please bring a permanent waterproof black micron pen (Ex. Sakura, Pigma), tip size can be 01 to 03; a blending tool (small tortillon), and a standard #2 pencil.  Zen Nana will provide draft drawing paper, the 3.5 inch drawing paper, called a "tile" and written/illustrated instructions. Supplies available at The Art Stop.

    Class Overview
    This one-day workshop combines traditional portrait drawing techniques with the soft, blendable texture of PanPastels, offering artists a powerful and versatile medium for rendering and capturing likeness, values and form through expressive shading. Beginners and Intermediate artists will complete a portrait and gain confidence in using PanPastels for dramatic monochromatic effects.
    Students will learn:

    Portrait Foundations

    ● Anatomy of the face, proportions, features, & structure
    ● Exploring light and shadow with simple shapes
    ● Breaking down features into simple forms
    Introduction to PanPastel
    ● Understanding the medium: properties & tools
    ● Techniques for blending, layering and erasing
    Application Techniques
    ● Blocking in values: light, mid-tones and shadows
    ● Building depth and form with soft layering
    ● Using erasers for highlights and fine details
    ● Adding texture to hair, eyes, etc

    If you don't have any of these items and you would like us to make up a kit, just let us know!
    Reference image will be provided. You can work from an iPad or printed photo, whichever you prefer.

    If you have any of the following items, that’s fine! Also bring along a 2B or 4B charcoal pencil.
    Strathmore also makes a grey toned paper. Either is good!
