Young artists will enjoy this lighthearted class. A huge variety of projects makes this class fun over and over again. Basic art concepts are introduced at an age-appropriate level, preparing the student for creative art class, when they are ready. A smock or apron is recommended for this class. Class limit 10
Supply List:
- Drawing pad w/perforated top 9 x 12 or 11 x 14
- 1 set Cray-Pas any size, or 6 or 12 set of Playcolor (dry tempera sticks)
- 2B pencil, eraser
- All other supplies will be supplied by The Art Stop

In this class, students learn to draw what they see. Proportion, perspective, composition, basic forms, negative space, and tonal value are emphasized. Pencil, charcoal, pastel and paint are used. Students will be given projects based on their ability. Class limit: 12

- Chalk pastel set of 24 or 48 student grade is fine
- Medium and soft Charcoal pencil
- 4 graphite drawing pencils, hard, med & soft

Your Child will be able to Experience many different mediums, doing a Large Variety of Projects. such as; Pallet knife Painting, Landscapes, Cartooning, Flip Books, Stamping and more! Campers will use different, exciting mediums including: Acrylics, Clay, Gouache, Watercolor, Pastels, Marker, Colored Pencil and more! For beginning watercolor artists who have been introduced to the beauty of this medium, Linda Serway Bordwell will provide a comfortable class where you can continue to learn through guided practice exercises.
Five week sessions will walk through the basic elements of a painting, composition and color while providing opportunity to paint, observe and express yourself with watercolor.
Suggested materials:
- 1 full sheet of Arches Cold press 140 lb paper or 9 x 12 watercolor block
- Paints..I prefer professional grade tube colors such as Winsor Newton, Daniel Smith and/or M. Graham:
- 4 Warm Transparent watercolors: Winsor Red, New Gamboge, French Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna
- 4 Cool Transparent colors; Permanent Alizarin Crimson, Winsor or Hansa Yellow, Winsor Blue and Burnt Umber
- Flat watercolor brushes: 1 1/2” and 3/4”
- Round brushes: 5,10,12 and 14 and a rigger
- Water container
- Sketch pad, pencils and gum eraser for sketching
- Palette with wells
- Paper towels
- Masking tape or clips
- Masking fluid
- Painting board (larger than paper and rigid enough to resist flexing
