Hand Stamped Jewelry Workshop

Our own Morgan Everly will be guiding you through this fun and exciting workshop. If you have guests in for Thanksgiving, this is a great activity to do together.  Learn to make your own unique hand stamped aluminum pendants and bracelets in this two hour workshop! Create two pieces between three templates : a standard circle pendant, washer pendant or metal cuff bracelet. Instruction includes basic steel stamping techniques including how to line up letters, strike steel stamps with the correct force, and an introduction to the necessary materials and methods to make a beautiful, unique piece of jewelry. All materials are included.

We will explore Chinese brushes and papers and learn the specific strokes for painting Bamboo .
Small medium and large Chinese brush ,tube watercolors,a felt blanket or a towel approximately 12×16 inches .A bottle of ink or ink stick and grinding stone .

Emphasizes and helps nurture spontaneity

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

 Chinese “Ling non” school watercolors
This style encourages the student to paint freely and expressively.

 The class is designed to help you work more spontaneously.

 The “rice”or cotton paper used in the class is made to be brushed quickly.

 You will learn techniques meant to make the maximum statement, with a minimum of brush strokes.

Use colors /paper you have, or check materials list below:
Chinese chip colors are available through oriental art supply, Holbein are the closest in tube colors.
-A felt blanket , old linen tablecloth or towel  

-Two water buckets
-A palette for mixing colors
-Small spray bottles for water and paint
-I use sable brushes- small 6
medium 10-and large. Kosinski sable are best
for western watercolor paper.
-Water buckets -2
-Paper towels
-I use Gemini, Fabriano or Waterford paper ,cold press 140  or 200 lb

-Sumi e rice paper or double shuen (xuan) (oriental art supply OAS.com)

Materials List:

  • Sumi e rice paper or double shuen (oriental art supply) (The Art Stop) has a few rolls of sugi gama
  • -Water soluble Chinese ink (“The Art Stop” sells this in a bottle)
  • -Bamboo brushes ,small medium and large  –
  • newsprint-Any watercolors (EXCEPT Cotman -this paint often has weak pigment )
  • Any watercolors (EXCEPT Cotman – This is student-grade paint and you need artist grade). Chinese chip colors are available through Oriental Art Supply.

Life Drawing class Join instructor Jane Grace Taylor in this challenging class to learn how to accurately draw the human body. Once you learn how to draw the human form you will feel confident to draw anything put in front of you! Jane has her Master’s degree from Syracuse University.

The Wonderful World of Watercolor

Always wanted to Paint, but weren’t sure where to begin? In this class, you will learn the fundamentals of watercolor painting. Learn layout, composition, color theory, technique, style, etc. Bring to life the world around you in beautiful, full color.
          Materials list:
  •  6-8 tubes of watercolor paints (artist grade preferred) primaries and secondaries, Payne’s gray and a brown
  •  Brushes: Rounds: # 1, 4 and 6 and Flat Shaders :1/4 inch and 1/2 inch (artist grade preferred)
  •   #140 lb. Arches (Rough Press or Cold Press) w/c paper
  •  Plastic container for water
  •  Paper towels
  •  2 H or 3 H Pencil
