Anne Jurgens, award winning artist and certified instructor, will lead you through the wonders of watercolor. This class is intended for beginning and intermediate students with emphasis on expressing ourselves with paint. Beginning students will learn basic watercolor techniques including how to apply flat washes, graded washes, and glazes, wet in wet and dry brushing techniques. We will learn about composition, values, line, and color as elements in a painting. Young artists will enjoy this lighthearted class. A huge variety of projects makes this class fun over and over again. Basic art concepts are introduced at an age-appropriate level, preparing the student for creative art class, when they are ready. A smock or apron is recommended for this class. Limit 12
Supply List:
In this class, students learn to draw what they see. Proportion, perspective, composition, basic forms, negative space, and tonal value are emphasized. Pencil, charcoal, pastel and paint are used. Students will be given projects based on their ability. Class limit: 12
Kits are available for purchase, if you call ahead we will put one together. All other supplies will be supplied by The Art Stop

Color mixing and creating a range of colors from a limited palette will be taught. For students with previous experience in color mixing, a more complex palette will be used. Paint from your own sketches, photos, or studio still life. We’ll have demos in each class that will cover various topics such as various ways to start an oil painting, oiling out, stretching a canvas, preparing a panel, glazing, and varnishing.

Join Carole Agosto to create this beautiful look in watercolor pen & ink. In this course students will learn to draw objects to landscapes by using pen and adding watercolor to bring the picture to life. Students will improve their skills, and learn how to mix colors. A printed photos will be provided for students in advance. We will work from a variety of photos such as buildings, cars, landscapes, etc. There will be demonstrations through out the weeks. Beginner to Intermediate are welcome.
In order to squeeze one more session in before Summer camps begin, we will have two classes the last week, one on Tuesday and on Thursday.

Explore the joys of painting outside while learning about plein air painting from two experienced plein air painters!
Session I: We will meet in the upstairs classroom at the Art Stop and discuss gear, best practices, what to expect while painting outside, and answer any questions and concerns
Session II: The group will set up easels at an outdoor location and paint under the guidance of your instructors.
All skill levels and mediums are welcome. (Please don't purchase equipment until after the first session!)

Can’t draw but want to? Can draw but want to get better? In this class you will use pencil, charcoal, and pastel to learn basic forms, one and two point perspective, negative space, tonal value and proportion. Use these fundamentals to draw anything. Drawing accurately is the basis for all other fine art mediums. You need to be able to accurately sketch out your canvas or paper before going on the next step.
